This alone is worth a post: Battle Chasers Anthology

There's a bit of a write-up on IGN, but sufficed to say that this is one of few collections by the artist who got me into art and comics. I had been buying comics prior to discovering Joe Madureira, but not for the enjoyment and appreciation of the beauty of good art (more on this some other time?). My introduction to Joe Madureira and "art" was with Uncanny X-men #346. I looked through it and was mesmerized. It looked... SO GOOD! I had to have it! So I bought my cousin's copy from him and started collecting the title. Unfortunately Joe's run ended a few issues after, but I later managed to scrounge up most of the back issues. On that same note, I collected everything Battle Chasers as it was released: Cliffhanger Sketchbook, Battle Chasers Prelude, Frank Frazetta's Fantasy Illustrated #2, Issues 1-9 (including the 4 Joe Mad variant covers for issue.. 4? and Adam Warren's variant for #6 (I like Adam Warren))
And maybe some other stuff? But it's such a pain to read single issues. I don't even like to collect them at all anymore. I just wait for collections and TPBs. I did the same with Joe Mad's Ultimates 3; I have the issues and variants, but they're cumbersome to actually read or look at.
Additionally on that note, I'm broke and have yet to pre-order Joe's Darksiders art book (or PS3-deprivedly played the game for that matter :()

I've been slowly reading the first Kabuki collection by David Mack. I can't overstate his poetic brilliance. I'd read all of the collections up to The Alchemy (Volume 7), but I always had trouble tracking down the first. I'm also waiting on the release of a Reflections collection.

In hacky news, I recently filmed and edited a 2-part shred special of my Winnipeg crew. Check it: (VIDEO) (VIDEO)
I'm thinking of getting some tickets for the Toronto International Film Festival with my woman. A few films that look good that we're considering seeing are:
Let Me In (trailer) (A remake of the incredible Swedish movie, "Let The Right One In", [which I saw last summer])
The Repeaters (trailer)
I Saw The Devil (trailer)
Black Swan (trailer) (Darren Aranofsky's new movie with Natalie Portman)

Also, The Walking Dead TV series starts in October I believe. I read up to issue #70 of the comic a while ago and it's really good [story-wise (actually the art in the first collection is pretty good)]. I am very exited for this remake, and hope it can live up to the ongoing comic series. Check the trailer: The Walking Dead
I've also been meaning to pick up a collection of Invincible for Ryan Ottley's
art, which is also written by Robert Kirkman, the author of The
Walking Dead.
